Kate Hsu Hagmann practices in the areas of commercial and civil litigation.  Ms. Hagmann’s experience includes breach of contract actions, CUTPA claims, and various business torts.  She also has experience with insurance coverage litigation, employment law, and appellate work.

Ms. Hagmann was a law clerk for the Honorable William J. Sullivan at the Connecticut Supreme Court.  Before joining Bershtein, Volpe & McKeon in 2009, she practiced at Wiggin and Dana in New Haven, where she was a member of the Insurance Practice Group.  At Wiggin and Dana, she worked on cases in State and Federal Court, and she has handled arbitration before both AAA and JAMS.  She also has written several appellate briefs.

Ms. Hagmann received her B.A. from Wesleyan University in 1998, Phi Beta Kappa, and her J.D. with High Honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law.  She was the Symposium Editor of the Connecticut Law Review and Treasurer of the Unemployment Action Center.  Her article, Much Ado About Nothing: Has the U.S. Supreme Court’s Sutton Decision Thwarted a Flood of Frivolous Litigation?, was published in the Summer 2005 Edition of the Connecticut Law Review. 

Her awards include the University of Connecticut Law School Foundation Prize for Exceptional Achievement in Scholarship, the Aspen Law and Business Award for Excellence in the Study of Evidence, the Thomas F. Gallivan, Jr. Memorial Prize for Outstanding Scholastic Achievement in Property, and four CALI Excellence Awards for Class Performance. 

Ms. Hagmann is admitted to practice in Connecticut in both State and Federal Courts.
